"Perched on the shore of Twin Lakes – just one mile from Mammoth Mountain ski resort – this historic lodge dates back to 1924 and is the epitome of rustic charm. Guests can choose from the rooms in the main lodge or the self-catering wood cabins; all are super cosy, with embroidered bed throws and plump cushions. The views of the lake and mountainside are reason enough to visit. Aperitifs are served every evening in the fire-lit lounge, before guests retire to supper in the Lakefront Restaurant, with its creative food and excellent service. It’s obviously removed from the slopes, but it’s excellent value for those on a budget and a shuttle runs throughout the day, making it easy for you to get to the slopes and back. The east entrance of Yosemite National Park is a 45-minute drive – another great reason to stay. " - Nicola Iseard
