Omni PGA Frisco Resort

"Why book? If there is a golf weekend happening in North Texas, it has to be here. Plain and simple. Set the scene Located in Frisco and home to the new PGA Headquarters, this property has two 18-hole championship golf courses and endless space to space, sun, and wine and dine. The PGA Frisco facility is a 660-acre campus and so when you check in, you can check out of the hustle and bustle of Dallas city limits. The backstory This hotel has been a long time coming and exciting chatter at country clubs all across North Texas has been happening ever since the official word that the PGA of America was moving its headquarters to Frisco. While it is technically and Omni (and has all of the signature Omni *things* like a Mokara Spa), it has a distinct and fresh personality that is unique to this specific location. For example, the Ranch Houses which are larger rental options that feel like you are staying at a friend’s house versus a large hotel chain. The rooms I must admit, for an Omni property, the rooms feel very refreshing. There isn’t as much of a corporate vibe and the subtle nods to Texas work. The views of the fairways are enough to excite anyone, not just golfers, and the custom-designed liquor cabinets allow for the making of a Ranch Water right off the bat. The real super stars of the property, however, are the private ranch style villas. These are four bedrooms and feature a 24/7 concierge team. Food and drink There are 13 unique dining options that will satisfy you from breakfast through dinner and even after dinner drinks. Two of the concepts to make sure not to miss are Trick Rider, the seafood and steak spot, with its signature circle bar with a chandelier in the shape of a posh pony, and the Ice House which incorporates hitting bays in to the happy hour mix. It’s the perfect place to all meet up to officially get the family trip started. The spa The Mokara Spa offers respite for those who may want to relax before or after their round. It is also a great option for those vacationers who want to attend the group trip but not want to play 18-holes. The best part about the spa is the private spa pool that is for guests of the Mokara Spa only. The Tee Up is a golfer specific sports massage that incorporates press point therapy, broad spectrum CBD, and customized stretching. The neighborhood/area This hotel is the destination. If you are coming to Omni PGA Frisco, you are unlikely to leave unless you are visiting friends or going to an event in Dallas. The service is low key but accommodating. And while the staff will go out of its way to make sure its guests are well taken care of; you might have to ask if there is anything above and beyond the norm that you’re wanting to make your stay stand out. For families I was blown away at how family friendly this facility was. There are family friendly pools, a killer splash pad, family movie nights, and even a schedule of events that change with the season. Think s'mores by the fire and cookie decorating. Accessibility yes Anything left to mention? While the 18-hole championship courses are the main event at this property, do not miss some of the other golf amenities that are sometimes just as if not more fun. The Swing is a 10-hole, lighted par-3 course that is adjacent to the Ice House. Grab some balls and clubs at the Starter Shack if you don’t have your own and swing the night away." - Diana Oates
