"How did it strike you on arrival?Like I had landed at my grandmother's timeshare. It doesn't take long to realize you've landed in a not-so-luxe spot. It immediately felt touristy, but the proximity to the ocean was exciting. Nice. What’s the crowd like?This hotel represents the American dream vacation to Hawaii. It's just-doing-enough vibe attracts families and those who want to focus on the beach more than the property. Mixed drinks in plastic cups with little umbrellas are abundant. How was check in? Check-in wasn't anything remarkable. The tech in the room consisted of a basic radio clock and T.V. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.We stayed in a Partial Ocean View Room. The decor felt like an upscale Tuesday Morning, on the outdated side of design. The view permitted a small view of the ocean, a kid-filled pool, and courtyard. I did enjoy the patio in the evening to watch the sky. Room service and food: Worth it?If you're looking for a good ol' reliable with food that tastes good after a long day at the beach, you'll want to make your way to the Tiki Terrace. There you'll find poke, lamb fettuccini, and a few others reliables. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.There's hula dancing at sunset everyday. Also, if you'd like to snorkel or ride a boki board, they've got you covered. Bottom line: worth it, and why?If you want a very low-key, family-friendly excursion without any frills or fancy bites, this place could be for you.
