"On the Notre-Dame strip in St-Henri, a newcomer expands the petite sushi scene: Le Kioko, located at 3735 Notre-Dame W (open 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon–Wed, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Thu–Fri, 2–10 p.m. Sat–Sun), isn’t strictly sushi — it leans into all manner of raw seafood edibles with poke bowls and tartares as well as broad sushi offerings. I found multiple tuna sashimi options alongside seal, octopus and scallop, and even grilled ray nigiri that goes beyond your average neighbourhood counter. The poke bowls pull the Hawaiian dish back toward Japanese origins with toppings like edamame and shiitakes, while also offering non-raw options such as shrimp tempura and karaage (fried) chicken bowls. The tartares are taken liberally, served as multiple “pieces” per order and seasoned with spicy mayo and tobiko — a bit like deconstructed maki rolls without the rice and nori." - Tim Forster
