"Yoshitsune is one of the few old-school, independent Japanese restaurants left in Waikīkī, tucked into the back of the Park Shore Hotel. Regulars order the two-tier chirashi, presented like a box of jewels, and the kamameshi, iron pots of rice simmered with seafood such as crab, abalone, or, in the fall, matsutake mushrooms. Yoshitsune also offers a wonderful traditional Japanese breakfast, a full spread including housemade tofu, grilled fish, miso soup, and small sides. Vibe check: The dining room is often filled with locals and Japanese speakers. Weekday mornings generally offer a quiet start to the day." - Martha Cheng
