"I'm reporting that Dessert Oasis Coffee is bringing a third cafe to Royal Oak: co-owner Nathan Hamood confirms to Eater that the metro Detroit coffee roaster leased the former La Dulce space at 115 S Main St. in late January with plans to open this spring. The sprawling 3,200-square-foot space will seat roughly 80 patrons and, similar to its Capitol Park location, will have a “cleaned up industrial,” minimalist aesthetic. Dessert Oasis plans to move its baking operations to the back of the building, house roasting equipment that Hamood intends to display toward the front facing Main Street, and take advantage of existing garage door–style windows to create an indoor-outdoor feel in warm weather; Nightingale Construction Company will handle the buildout. Hamood says a big part of their business model is night traffic—late-night music and desserts—and he sees Royal Oak’s ample foot traffic and restaurant density as a great market. Founded in 2009 in Rochester with a second location opened in Detroit in 2015, the company says it grows responsibly by offering a small percentage share to key employees who then assist operations at all locations. Dessert Oasis is shooting for a May debut in Royal Oak." - Brenna Houck
