"After a lengthy permitting delay caused by floor-plan modifications to accommodate other tenants, ASW Distillery is finally moving forward on a 12,000-square-foot barrel-aging and storage facility at Lee & White with a Beltline-facing tasting room, expected to open around September 1. The ASW–West End site will function as an unconditioned rickhouse, giving the distillery flexibility to age some barrels in a Scotland-like fashion (with smaller temperature swings) and others in a Tennessee/Kentucky style, and it will also serve as a second blending and bottling facility; no stills are planned at present, though Chasteen does not rule out future distilling there. The permitting win comes as ASW celebrates major competition success: their double-malt whiskey “Duality” (50% malted rye, 50% malted barley) earned a double gold — unanimous from all 40 judges — at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, while Fiddler cask-strength bourbon took gold and Resurgens rye, Ameireaganach single malt, and Fiddler unison bourbon received silver." - Beth McKibben
