Ann Arbor Restaurant Owners Collaborate to Help Fight Hunger in Washtenaw County | Eater Detroit

"Owned by Lisa McDonald, this small Ann Arbor tea shop pivoted quickly when schools closed: instead of packing lunches for her own children she began assembling hundreds of sandwiches to feed kids who rely on school meals, at one point packing and delivering as many as 600 donated lunches per week to a local housing nonprofit. Donations, tips and online contributions fund the effort; with schools running summer meal programs she shifted some capacity, currently providing about 250 boxed lunches weekly to a regional food-rescue organization and also taking a weekly shift preparing hot meals at a community kitchen to feed an additional roughly 100 people each week. What began as an emergency response has become an ongoing part of how the business operates during the pandemic." - Eater
