"This Riverwalk institution has been dishing up San Antonio-style Mexican food 24 hours a day for decades. The menu won’t be surprising to anyone who’s spent a considerable amount of time in the state, but what it lacks in innovation it makes up for in quality — the tacos al carbon, a Texas classic, are made with fresh corn tortillas and tender beef, then topped with homemade guacamole and pico de gallo. All plates are served with rice, borracho beans, and calabacita, a kicky mix of summer squash and other veg. What good is a place that serves tacos at 2 a.m. if you can’t have a ’rita to go with it?
