"Long Beach’s newest dining destination, 4 Shore, is a return home for owner and first-time restaurateur Joshua Sanchez, who was raised nearby. The restaurant opens on Friday, May 10, with chefs Ben Davenport (formerly of Michael’s on Naples and Layla) and Jared Ventura (formerly of Chianina and Michael’s on Naples) preparing a French-inflected Italian menu. The dinner menu features starters like burrata with cherry tomatoes and risotto with poached shrimp and shiitake mushrooms. Main dishes include lamb saddle with ‘nduja jus, seabass with beurre rouge, and a beef strip loin. For dessert, olive oil cake, chocolate torte, and caramelized pineapple custard. To pair with the food, beverage director Walker Marsh developed a slate of cocktails, including the Heatwave with tequila, lime, aji amarillo, passion fruit, and bergamot liqueur, and the Kyoto Kiss made with gin, strawberry, ginger, lemon, and sparkling sake. 4 Shore will also offer riffs on classic drinks including an espresso martini with black sesame and a fig Old Fashioned. At the bar, small bites will be available including beef carpaccio, beef bavette, oysters, and beignets. The design of the space reflects Sanchez’s original vision of a speakeasy, with dim lighting and jewel-toned velvet seating. The bar is the centerpiece and boasts reflective tile along its front and blush pink velvet stools." - Rebecca Roland
