"At the Frying Pan, a historic floating barge and lightship, I learned that the spot's popular beer buckets have verged on dangerous: a former barback, Gonzalo Luis-Morales, says that in July 2017 a Corona Extra bottle burst while he was setting it in an ice bucket and sent glass into his left eye, leaving him permanently blind in that eye; he received nine stitches, had two eye surgeries, has been out of work, is now nervous around glass bottles, and has trouble leaving his house unaccompanied because of affected depth perception.
