"After 25 years in business, Addison’s Flying Saucer Draught Emporium will close for good on December 31; I was struck by its place as one of the Metroplex’s first craft beer bars and by the beer hall’s signature offering of more than 100 rotating taps of craft brews. The closure was announced on the bar’s Facebook page, which said the Addison Saucer would permanently close after last call on Thursday, December 31 and that the team chose to celebrate what they’d achieved. Founder Shannon Wynne told the Dallas Morning News he is opting not to renew the lease and that plans to build an outdoor patio were rendered untenable by City of Addison parking regulations. The Addison location — the second to open after Wynne’s original Fort Worth spot, founded in 1994 — was also known for its UFO Club, in which beer lovers earn personalized golden “saucers” for sampling many of the hundreds of beers; saucer-owners have until January 15 to pick up trophies that were at the Addison location. The Fort Worth original and the Saucers at Lake Ray Hubbard and Cypress Waters will remain open." - Brittanie Shey
