"Built in 1899 and immaculately renovated between 2011 and 2015, the five-story Grand Army of the Republic Building—originally a gathering space for Civil War veterans—formerly housed the Parks & Rec Diner and Republic on its ground level, though both spaces sat largely vacant during the pandemic and the property was put on the market in 2021. The West Bloomfield-based Barbat Holdings has acquired the historic building and its hospitality division, Prime Concepts Detroit, plans to open a steakhouse and event space later this spring that will sprawl throughout the building’s five floors." - Serena Maria Daniels
