"Opening May 16, Wooden Spoon will be a breakfast-and-lunch restaurant from brothers Dylan and Rowan MacNiven and partner/chef August Shuchman that takes over the former Aatxe space in the Swedish American Hall. The menu is intended to serve the neighborhood all day, ranging from healthy options to full-on hangover breakfasts, with classics like eggs and pancakes alongside items such as a Dungeness crab frittata and a vegan chorizo hash; a few Scandinavian dishes—Swedish pancakes and open-faced sandwiches—will join the American classics as a nod to the hall. Because Wooden Spoon shares a liquor license with downstairs Cafe du Nord, cocktails like bloody marys and greyhounds will be available, and coffee will be from Sightglass. The space received a light remodel to brighten the interiors; the team says Wooden Spoon will be casual and family-friendly, reflects the MacNivens' brunch roots, will initially serve Wednesday–Sunday 8 a.m.–3 p.m., and aims to expand to seven days a week soon." - Ellen Fort
