"A bright, brisk Mexican restaurant from Edson and Natalie Diaz-Fuentes is returning to Shoreditch after a five-year absence, reopening this September at 55 Great Eastern Street (replacing the grab-and-go cafe Pod). Billed as an ode to bustling Mexican taquerias, the spot will bring favourites from its London Bridge incarnation, feature rotating monthly specials and include a colourful takeaway hatch serving street-food staples. The original Rivington Street outpost focused on snacks and inventive tacos — including pig ear tacos, octopus tostadas and hibiscus quesadillas — while a later, larger Tooley Street site added a charcoal grill and introduced large-format plates such as barbacoa lamb shank, grilled seabass and short rib priced by weight and served with mole. Owners and local diners alike are hopeful the Shoreditch comeback will be a success." - James Hansen
