"The Yard, a new eatery tucked into a McKinney historic home, has officially opened its doors. The restaurant made its debut this week at 107 South Church Street, and is a project of the minds behind restaurants like Cadillac Pizza Pub and Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza. The cute and quaint space it occupies was formerly home to James Madison Pearson, who served as mayor of McKinney in the late 1800s, according to a press release, and sits on a one-acre lot that will provide plenty of room for outdoor dining. As far as the food is concerned, diners can indulge in comfort fare like burgers, nachos, and chicken wings on a backyard patio that will offer outdoor games, ping pong tables, and fire pits. Cocktails include a riff on frose and the Yard Smash, a mix of Knob Creek bourbon, honey, blackberry, and mint. The Yard is now open for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Amy McCarthy
