"Beginning in 2003, Bellatazza has been one of the oldest roasters in town. It’s located on Wall Street, smack in the center of downtown at the breezeway that leads to Mirror Pond, making it a great place to people-watch. The coffee is a medium roast to bring out the flavors of direct-trade beans that owner Stewart Fritchman imports from Guatemala. While the housemade empanadas are a nod to his time spent there, their fillings go beyond Latin flavors to include variations from around the world, such as Indian lentils or New Mexican fire-roasted chile pork, all served with a yogurt-cilantro dipping sauce. Paninis are made in advance and generously layered with beautiful combinations of ingredients like creamy brie, fig, and prosciutto. Choose from many coffees but feel utterly pampered by ordering the cortado served with water to cleanse the palate and a piece of Toblerone to satisfy a sweet tooth." - Barb Gonzalez
