"I visited the new Big Bad Breakfast in The Nations, which opened at 5304 Charlotte Avenue after taking over the former EiO & the Hive space; backed by Fresh Hospitality, the spot serves sweet and savory Southern dishes — fluffy omelets, house-cured bacon, buttermilk biscuits and stacked-high morning sandwiches (the sandwiches are available all day every day) — and a cocktail program including bloody marys, mimosas, and screwdrivers made with fresh-squeezed juice, plus an Irish Coffee modeled after the original Buena Vista recipe. The themed interior includes a large Nashville postcard on one wall and playful chicken bodies wearing heads of Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash, with booth, table, bar, and outdoor patio seating for about 115 guests. Big Bad Breakfast first began in Oxford, Mississippi selling pancakes, egg skillets, and biscuits; Currence published a Big Bad Breakfast cookbook in 2016 and named the restaurant after Larry Brown’s book of short stories, Big Bad Love, and he hints at more future Nashville locations. The Nashville outpost is now open Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m." - Delia Jo Ramsey
