"Working alongside the bakery, Daphne’s Botanicals fills the space with plants native to the Philippines and practical care advice: orchids that thrive with lots of light and added humidity, the Cebu Blue pothos (a cultivar of Epipremnum pinnatum named for the Cebu region) that is often a seasonal find, the many-species hoya group with many Philippine origins, prolific carnivorous pitcher plants adapted to nutrient-poor rainforest soils, and the visually striking Alocasia watsoniana with prominent white veins and reddish-purple undersides that echo the crinkle cookie’s appearance. Peters uses the shop to teach about plants and her Filipino identity, creating a symbiotic exchange with Abenoja’s food knowledge." - Janey Wong
