"After running Bice on Palm Beach island for the last several years, Raffaele Ruggeri, grandson of the restaurant’s founders, has gone into expansion mode. He opened the upbeat Cafe Med in West Palm in May and in January premiered this elegant room in chocolate and navy tones, with intimate booths and a back garden. It looks like a ristorante in Milan and wins over diners from the outset with a cart displaying a wide variety of top olive oils and balsamic vinegars, including aged reductions. A selection of crudos and carpaccios includes langoustines with apple tartar and white sturgeon caviar. Among the appetizers is fragrant zucchini flan with Castelmagno fonduta and truffles. Pillows of ravioli are filled with snow crab, potato, and ricotta. Veal comes almond-crusted, while king salmon arrives with melted fennel and blood orange." - Beth Landman
