"I noted that the Daly City Chick-fil-A at the Serramonte Center on Callan Boulevard — mere minutes from San Francisco’s city line — opened as the chain’s newest Bay Area location, bringing the Bay total to 21. The chain is described as being almost as well known for its close ties to groups opposed to LGBTQ rights as for its fried chicken sandwiches, and it has been actively expanding in the region (including a San Jose airport location and proposals in Campbell, which was rejected over traffic concerns, and Redwood City, which opened despite San Mateo County opposition). San Francisco itself appears unlikely to allow a Chick-fil-A under the city’s chain-store rules. In coordination with the Peninsula opening, Chick-fil-A says it will donate $25,000 to Feeding America." - Clair Lorell
