Founded by Joseph Andrews (BluMaan) with David Alfonso and Christopher Zent (Hanz de Fuko), the trio—who met after Andrews's men's hair videos amassed millions of views—opened the shop in August 2022 and combined their business names to form Aanuko. Alfonso designed the interior with custom tiles, whimsical wallpaper, and a central lounge area of chairs and sofas surrounded by plants. The team began with five barbers handling up to 15 clients per week, but after Andrews started posting on TikTok in the second month, bookings surged and the staff expanded to 12.
