"Opening in early October at 1814 W. Chicago Avenue, the new Barcocina outpost in West Town will expand the modern Mexican restaurant’s footprint beyond its Lakeview patio near Wrigley Field. The team is leaning into a sharing-focused menu that keeps longtime hits like yucca tots and firecracker shrimp while adding test-driven items from Lakeview such as scallop ceviche bites with strawberry and hibiscus “caviar.” Executive chef Ramiro Piza also plans to push boundaries — kicking things off with an Octoberfest-themed taco featuring jalapeño sausage — and general manager Adam Webb describes the taco as a vessel for showcasing a wide array of cuisines. The building renovations include a 230-seat patio that’s 50 percent larger than the Lakeview location, two bars (one fully enclosable for year-round service) and a drinks program expected to feature about 40 tequilas plus an extensive assortment of cocktails (by the glass or pitcher), draft beers, and wines." - Naomi Waxman
