"It's time to stock up on allergy meds and lint rollers, as Tennessee’s first cat cafe prepares to open its doors in Nashville this Saturday. Mewsic Kitty Cafe, located at 2519 Nolensville Rd. in the Woodbine neighborhood, is the first of several cat-centric ventures slated to open in Middle Tennessee; owners Maegan and Thien Phan have partnered with local non-profit Nashville Cat Rescue and plan to host up to 15 cats at a time that will live on property until adopted or up to three weeks before going back to foster care, with all adoption fees going directly to the rescue group. In line with the model for other cat cafes, Mewsic will take reservations and charge for its play dates—starting at $12 an hour for regular “meet and greets,” with prices increasing for special events such as yoga. Beverage and food offerings are secondary to the cafe’s feline friends but include a self-serve coffee bar featuring Bongo Java, Switter’s iced coffee, kombucha, tea, and pastries from The Wild Muffin and vegan bakery Leeuw. Initial hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday through Sunday." - Matt Rogers
