Pasifika makes for a solid after-work escape in Bellevue - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Pasifika may be wedged into a quiet office park in Bellevue, but with bouncy reggae, a velvet rope that's just for show, and staff who say things like “hell yeah, let’s do this” after you order each appetizer, it’s got party energy. Even on a random Tuesday at 5pm, this is a great place to drink something bright and tropical after work and split some stuff from the extensive menu of Hawaiian, Guamanian, and other Pacific islander dishes. Not everything stands out, but we like the crunchy lumpia and the saimin, which has a light broth that clings to springy noodles and matchsticks of Spam. Order a Ha’ani (a mango-hibiscus mojito), share some shatteringly crispy lumpia or sticky-sweet BBQ wings, and let the stress of 405 gridlock melt away. Food Rundown Crispy Chik'n Wings The ones with mango BBQ sauce have a pleasant sweetness with some heat, but we pine for a bit more crisp. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Pork Lumpia These thick, golden capsules have sturdy wrappers and tasty filling begging for a sauce dip. Get a couple of orders for the table. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Coco Chicken Corn Soup A hearty, comforting chowder. It's just not as silky as others we've had around town. We'd also like the coconut milk to peek its head out more. Taconada Trio The tostadas here need more snap. We love the mahi mahi the most out of this trio. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Hawaiian Saimin Such a lovely bowl with all of the elements playing off each other like high-level pickleball doubles partners. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Macadamia Nut Pancakes These monster slabs get some much-appreciated texture from the finely chopped nuts. If you don't mind extra sweetness on top of the powdered sugar, get the side of their coconut-forward sauce. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Chorizo Omelette Crumbly bits of meat get lovingly wrapped in fluffy eggs. Nothing fancy, but it all works. Hibiscus Mimosa It's got some easy-going floral notes and is best for a Sunday with live bands playing island music." - Gabe Guarente
