"It’s worth braving the tourists around Hôtel de Ville for a table at Pluto, a chill canteen hidden inside Lafayette Anticipations, the Rem Koolhaas-designed contemporary art center across from the BHV/Marais department store. There are only a dozen or so blonde wood tables in a bright but ultra-minimalist concrete space, which makes lunch at this all-day café feel almost meditative. You might expect serious or experimental food given the environment, but the chef’s short lunch menu is regressive and comforting. You’ll choose from only four options that change constantly, but which may be a croque madame with pastrami and chili oil, a saucisse-purée punched up with salsa verde, or a seasonal vegetable tourte that’s healthy but hearty. Portions are modest, meaning you should absolutely order the chocolate and sea salt cookie and Basque cheesecake with a prune and olive oil dipping sauce for dessert." - sara lieberman, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, lindsey tramuta, sara lieberman, sara lieberman, sara lieberman, lindsey tramuta, sara lieberman
