"It’s not often a hotel prides itself on education as much as hospitality, but then The Laurel Hotel & Spa does sit within one of America’s most historic college towns. In what it claims is a first of its kind, the hotel has teamed up with the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management at Auburn University to train the next generation of hoteliers and chefs outside of the limits of the classroom. This might not mean much for guests, but providing students with as many real-life settings as possible has resulted in an excellent choice of restaurants and bars, including the fine dining 1856, the summer terrace Walt's On The Roof, and the hotel’s own micro coffee roastery and microbrewery.
