"Opening Friday, September 9, I’m highlighting Fieldwork Brewing Company’s new beer garden and taproom at 100 West Juana Avenue in San Leandro — a 7,800-square-foot space, the brewery’s largest location to date, just a few blocks from the San Leandro BART station. The expansive outdoor area is anchored by a 75-year-old olive tree stretching skyward under an open ceiling and includes fire pits, loveseats with coffee tables, picnic tables, a standing bar area, and a dedicated kids’ area, with outdoor capacity for 265 and room for an additional 65 people inside. Inside there are 32 taps pouring beers ranging from crisp, clean lagers to a salted and sour blueberry gose, single and double IPAs, and a creamy chocolate milk stout (plus two wines and two beer flights), and the food menu features wings, salads, and pizzas in Neapolitan and Detroit styles. The taproom transforms a former 1960s Firestone Auto Service Center, and Fieldwork — which debuted in Berkeley in 2015 — has since expanded across the Bay Area with locations including Corte Madera, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Mateo, and San Ramon." - Lauren Saria
