Cubanos ATL Cuban Sandwich and Coffee Shop Is Open Inside a Tiny House in Sandy Springs on Roswell Road - Eater Atlanta
"Cuban sandwich and coffee shop Cubanos ATL is now open serving breakfast and lunch from a custom-built tiny house on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. The shop, situated in the parking lot of a small retail plaza (home to Kudzu Antiques and Bury the Hatchet axe throwing,) is currently only open for takeout. Cuban-born owner Ozzy Llanes moved to Atlanta from Miami a decade ago and says he’s spent the last several years searching for a “descent” Cuban sandwich in Atlanta. He finally decided to take matters into his own hands earlier this year. Llanes designed and built the tiny house on wheels, with its kitchen and prep station, over the span of two months. The menu consists of just four sandwiches: a traditional Cuban called El Miami; the El Tampa with roast pork, ham, salami, pickles, and Swiss cheese; the El Atlanta, which adds two types of pickles and salami to the Cuban sandwich; and the El Pollo chicken sandwich mixed with aioli and topped with pickles and Swiss cheese. All sandwiches are served on La Segunda Central Bakery bread — the oldest Cuban bread maker in the United States — and are created using family recipes. In addition to sandwiches, Cubanos ATL also serves Cuban coffee and coffee drinks, like the colada and cafe con leche, and flan for dessert. Cubanos ATL quickly found success after opening three weeks ago. Lines form early and tend to remain steady throughout the day, especially on Saturdays. People can order online for pick-up or fill out a disposable menu in line to hand to the cashier at the window. The shop takes cash, credit, and contactless mobile payment. Masks are required while in line and when ordering. Some limited seating is available at picnic tables in the parking lot.
