"Headed by Italian-born chef Enzo Fargione, I found Sorriso Modern Italian Kitchen — located in the Westin hotel at 2 Waterway Square Place — offers spectacular views of The Woodlands Waterway and Waterway Square and a décor of neutral tones, leather, and wood with industrial metal and steel accents centered around an open kitchen. Fargione, the famed former D.C. chef behind Barolo, Teatro Goldoni, Elisir and Osteria Elisir who was named one of Esquire’s “Four Chefs to Watch” in 2008 and who spent time in Naples, Florida before relocating to Houston, created a menu that uses Texas ingredients for classic Italian standbys: a charcuterie bar, bruschetta and bread baskets with spreads to start; housemade pastas like tagliatelle pomodoro and pappardelle short rib ragu; entrées including grilled branzino and braised veal ossobuco; and Neapolitan pizzas baked in a brick oven visible from the dining room. Fargione says he aims to provide an experience that’s "visual, fun, and diverse." The restaurant opened today and operates Sunday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter
