"The dining room at Selby’s feels like the love child of old school Hollywood glamour and East Coast old money opulence—spacious leather booths, velvet-upholstered chairs, shimmering chandeliers, and lots of rich mahogany. The warm popovers, served with a disk of flaky salt-topped butter are so good you‘ll be tempted to fill up on them, but exercise restraint because the three-course $125 tasting menu features modernized takes on fine-dining classics you won’t want to be too full for. Get the beef Wellington wrapped in golden pastry and the chile-laced yellowfin tartare that looks like a plate of glistening rubies, served with crunchy, pleasantly thick house potato chips. The cocktails are ice-cold and flawless. Go for the Smoke and Fire if you like whiskey and heat, the Greenpoint is great for chartreuse-lovers, and those skipping booze will love The Bitter Chauffeur." - Gabi Moskowitz
