"This always-packed, vegetarian restaurant and tea parlor introduced Mumbaiites to a range of ingredients, techniques, and flavors from our neighboring nation eleven years ago. It’s Burmese dishes that align with the desi palate, vegan-friendly laphet included. Burma Burma’s South Mumbai location was its first in India, and over the years its menu has evolved, going from mainly populist dishes like oh no khowsuey (with a choice of four noodles) and carbs-meet-broth samuza hincho soup, to more granular, hyper-regional plates like lemongrass-infused Mohinga noodle soup, and jasmine rice cooked in sun-dried mustard broth, a Mon tribe specialty. We always crave their savory fermented tea leaf salad and smoked chilli rice bowl. Burma Burma takes advantage of similarities in both cuisines to maximum effect, creating something new.
